ROME – The University of L’Aquila (UnivAQ) organized an intensive workshop on Technology Transfer for the Jordanian partners of the BITTCOIN-JO project. The project is funded by the Erasmus+ Program and supported by the European Union, in L’Aquila City, Italy.
The BITTCOIN-JO project aims at establishing Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) at higher education institutions in Jordan implemented by Yarmouk University in collaboration with 12 academic and industrial partners from Jordan and Europe. The Project aims to support university students and academic staff to transform their creative ideas and the outcomes of their scientific research into marketable knowledge and usable products. It helps students and university academic cadres create startups, register patents, and protect their Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).

Furthermore, an introduction to spin-offs and start-ups creation was given to the attendees in addition to discussing several topics such as the Italian spin-off legislation, the UnivAQ spinoff regulation, the role of the UnivAQ Spinoff Commission and the Italian legislation in comparison with the Jordanian legislation/Internal procedures for filing patent applications and services offered by the TTOs. That is in addition to the strategies and tools for the valuation of patent portfolios and the ProMiSE Project.
