Abu-Ghazaleh Elected as Chairman of Arab World Internet Institute


The Institute will be a significant addition to the various Arab Internet societies - Abu-Ghazaleh

TUNIS --- December 1, 2008 --- Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) was elected as the chairman of the Arab World Internet Institute during the founding meeting held recently on the sidelines of the ICT 4 All Forum in Tunisia.

Leading Tunisian expert Mr. Khaled Koubaa was elected as the Institute’s president.

In his opening speech at the ICT forum, Abu-Ghazaleh informed the participating delegations that the Institute will be a significant addition to the various Arab Internet societies and will cooperate with research centers and Arab and international universities.

The meeting was convened with the attendance of Tunisian officials and a number of Internet leaders and experts in the Arab world.
The Institute’s goals were outlined at the meeting along with an action plan.

The attendees decided that the Institute should be a center for research that aims to provide a future vision on Internet-related challenges and opportunities facing the Arab region. These challenges and opportunities might affect the future growth of the area and capacity building of its citizens, particularly in the fields of informatics, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence and other future studies.
